Mobile learning service Funzi is announcing its participation in the Dubai Future Accelerators, a unique government-supported accelerator with the mission to imagine, design, and create the future. The second batch of this 9-week program brings together 35 participant companies with government entities that are investing into breakthrough technologies to solve global challenges.
The Dubai Future Accelerators is an intensive program that pairs top companies and cutting-edge entrepreneurs with powerful partners in Dubai to create breakthrough solutions. Launched by Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the program explores and develops the technologies of the future and employs them to resolve the challenges of the 21st century.
The program aims to create a global platform to attract the brightest minds from around the world to find creative solutions for the challenges of the future and implement them in the city of Dubai. The inaugural program, which finished in December 2016, created $33m in commercial partnerships and pilot programs.
“For those with vision and drive to face the challenges of the future and create innovative solutions, we have launched the Dubai Future Accelerators,” said H.E. Abdulla bin Touq, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation. “We warmly welcome this next round of companies to work with our leading government bodies and to use our city as a living testbed for new technologies.”
Funzi has two main goals in the DFA program: the first is creating a nation-wide service in collaboration with the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority. This is done to raise the general awareness of the selected target group and participate in building a more effective and efficient education ecosystem. The second goal is to create a commercially sustainable Funzi ecosystem and hub in Dubai that supports our Gulf Cooperation Council and MENA operations.
“We are looking forward to forging partnerships especially with and through the Knowledge and Human Development Authority of the Dubai Government and growing our presence in the Middle East. Funzi is thrilled to take this amazing opportunity to accelerate our growth with leading experts in the DFA program,” comments CEO of Funzi, Tero Salonen.
Funzi is a pioneering mobile learning service from Finland that makes education accessible to everyone – for free for the end user. Funzi’s initial focus has been on livelihood and health related topics and courses are available globally on any connected device at funzi.mobi.
